  • Long pods packed with top quality beans
  • Heavy cropper
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit

Broad Bean ‘Super Aquadulce’ is one of the best varieties for autumn sowing, producing an early crop of tasty beans well before spring-sown plants. It’s a heavy cropper, producing masses of long slender pods packed with top-quality tender white beans. Harvest young for the best flavour. Any surplus beans will freeze well for later use.

Sow outdoors

Sow individual seeds 5cm (2in) deep and 10cm (4in) apart. Broad beans are usually sown in double rows about 25cm (10in) apart. Allow 60cm (24in) between each set of double rows.

Harvest

Harvest June – July. Pick them as young as possible for the very best flavour. When very young, they can be cooked and eaten in their pods. Broad beans are delicious cooked, cooled and used in salads too. To deter black fly, pinch out the growing tips when young bean pods start to develop.
