Description

Raspberry Glen Dee (x5)

  • Thorn-free stems
  • Ample fruit from one plant
  • Uniform berries

Strong-growing raspberry variety that produces lots of fruit in mid to late summer. Even-shaped conical fruit let you harvest easily and Glen Dee’s spine-free stems don’t snag your clothes when picking.

Ideal for growing in beds in an allotment Glen Dee is a floricane type that puts up lots of fruit every year provided your plants enjoy full sun and you grow in rich soil. We recommend you incorporate half a bag of John Innes No2 compost or well-rotted manure into your soil when planting and when pruning in late winter.

You receive your raspberry plants as bare-root canes. These arrive to you in a plastic wrap and a full network of roots. Plant in the winter and they will put down strong roots so they are ready to put up lots of fruiting stems in spring. Rip fruit will be up to three weeks earlier than if you plant in spring.

At planting cut stems down to 5cm (2in) from the base of the soil. In the first year let your raspberry plants produce lots of leafy growth to form strong plants. In the second year you’ll get a reward of raspberries from strong plants.
