Sweet Potato ‘Evangeline’ – 5 Plants

  • High resistance to nematode damage
  • Ornamental weed-suppressing leaves
  • Satisfyingly sweet

A ‘really sweet’ potato, this classic orange root is twice as sweet as other varieties on account of its high sucrose content.

Sweet potatoes are the tubers of attractive climbing or spreading plant Ipomoea batatas with ornamental heart-shaped leaves and ‘morning-glory’ trumpet flowers, so ideal for decorating the vegetable plot while waiting for ample harvests.

If growing to scramble on the ground the leaves will suppress weeds, cutting out light and water.

Recent breeding means there’s more than one type of sweet potato available for home-growers, all varieties with their individual characteristics but all equally as nutritious. Try for yourself.

Just grow them on in a sunny position – they’re half hardy so really appreciate the sun and high humidity levels to thrive.

These young plants have been grown by our experts and delivered to you with a healthy network of roots, ready for you to plant on into containers.
